چکیده

HE importance of better understanding the possible cumulative genetic effects of irradiation exposure over many generations has been pointed out repeatedly (UNITED NATIONS 1958,1962; SCOTT and EVANS 1959; MCGREGOR and NEWCOMBE 1962; NEWCOMBE and MCGREGOR 1965). In 1957 a program was initiated to investigate some of the possible nonspecific effects of X irradiation of male mouse progenitors on consecutive generations ( SPALDING, BROOKS and McWILLIAMS 1964; SPALDING and BROOKS 1965). These and other studies (SPALDING 1963a,b; HENSLEY, OAKLEY and HOWES 1964) indicated that control and irradiated lines do not differ in life expectancy but do show significant differences in certain litter characteristics, resistance to gammaand X-ray exposure at low dose rates, and voluntary activity levels. To gain more information concerning other possible genetic differences between irradiated and control line mice, we have made comparative studies on selected fat deposition, organ weights, blood constituents, and activity levels of enzymes in the two lines, and the results of these investigations are the subject of this communication.

Effects of Different Fat Sources in Finisher Diet of Broiler Chickens on Performance, Fat Deposition and Blood Metabolites

The aim of this experiment was to assess the effects of using saturated fatty acid (SFA) and some unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) sources in finishing period on performance, fat deposition and blood metabolites of broiler chickens. One hundred and forty four 28-d old male broiler chickens were randomly assigned to 4 treatments and 6 replicates in a completely randomized design. Four isocaloric/iso...

Coffea arabica Seed Extract Stimulate the Cellular Immune Function and Cyclophosphamide-induced Immunosuppression in Mice

In this study, we investigate the immunostimulatory effects of alcoholic extract of the coffee seed on cell-mediated immune response andcyclophosphamide-induced (CP) immunosuppressed mice. The assessment of cellular immune function was carried out by the measurement of delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response. According to the literature survey, cyclophosphamide has only suppressing effect ...

Protective effects of sulfated derivatives of polysaccharides extracted from Auricularia auricular on hematologic injury induced by radiation

Background: Ionizing radiation induces the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which play an important causative role in cell death. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects of sulfated derivatives of neutral polysaccharides extracted from Auricularia auricular (SNAAP). Materials and Methods: Whole blood samples from healthy donors treated with SNAAP at differen...

Protective effects of famotidine and vitamin C against radiation induced cellular damage in mouse spermatogenesis process

Background: Radioprotective effect of famotidine was previously shown on radiation induced micronuclei and chromosomal aberrations in human peripheral lymphocytes and mouse bone marrow cells however, its radioprotective property has never been studied in mouse spermatogenesis. It was also shown that vitamin C as an antioxidant also exert its radioprotective effect on many biological s...
